Academy management

Michael Hörrmann becomes new managing director

The Board of the Bachakademie has appointed Michael Hörrmann as the new Managing Director of the International Bachakademie Stuttgart. He will take up his post at Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Platz on February 21, 2024. The historian Michael Hörrmann is an experienced cultural manager and has excellent connections in the city and state. We look forward to working with him and wish Michael Hörrmann a good start in our "well-tempered" environment in the building on Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Platz.

New CD release

Puccini! – Verdi!

Puccini and Verdi, the grand masters of Italian opera, both gained their first musical experiences in a church music environment. Our new CD combines the "Quattro pezzi sacri" by the 80-year-old Giuseppe Verdi with the lively Messa by the youthful Giacomo Puccini. The result is a rousing live recording of the concert from April 2023, featuring the Gaechinger Cantorey, the Dresden Chamber Choir, the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra as well as Sung Min Song and Krešimir Stražanac under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann.

Händel – »Jephtha«

The focus was Joseph Haydn's oratorio "The Creation," which Karsten Gundermann arranged especially for this project in view of the responsibility towards our natural environment. New in the media library: the moving film documentary by Andreas Kessler.

New CD release

Joseph Haydn – The Creation

Finally on CD: In his timeless classic, Haydn creates a musical world with such a variety of tonal means of expression that one cannot escape its radiance. Haydn teaches us to "see with our ears", we hear the creation of the elements, get to see the most diverse animals before our mind's eye and experience the birth of the first human beings: the miracle of creation.
